Gerade in den Sommermonaten macht das Lernen bei gleißendem Sonnenlicht nur wenig Spaß. In den Carrels der Bibliothek wird man eher gebraten und der Durst nach einem Eiskaffee ist meist größer als die Aufnahmefähigkeit für Mechanik und Mathematik. Eine Situation, die so nicht angenehm ist und die ein Thema ganz groß und wichtig aufleuchten lässt:

 Arbeitsräume

Sie werden oft diskutiert und sind heiß begehrt. Andere Fakultäten haben sie, hat die Fakultät Bauingenieurwesen sie auch? – Die Antwort ist mehr oder weniger ja. Laut dem Flächennutzungsplan, hat die Fakultät B sogar zu viel Raumkapazitäten. Das liegt vor allem daran das viele Räume für Studenten nur schwer nutzbar sind und z.B. die Arbeitsräume der Architekten rund um die Uhr aufgesucht werden können.

Es ist somit schwer neue Räume zu schaffen. Die Aufgabe liegt eher darin vorhandene Räume zu nutzen, auch wenn uns das Dekanat beim Thema „neue Arbeitsräume“ zugehört hat und unsere Meinung teilt. Doch anstatt zu hoffen, müssen wir aus der jetzigen Situation das Optimum herausrausholen. In der M7 gibt es viele Seminarräume und in der 3. Etage die Computerpools. Bisher konnte man diese Räume nur während der Geschäftszeiten nutzen, doch ab jetzt ist der Zugang zur M7 für jeden Studenten der Fakultät Bauingenieurwesen rund um die Uhr gewährleistet, auch an Sonn- und Feiertagen.

Die Tür der M7 lässt sich ab jetzt mit der Thoska öffnen.

Für uns ist das der erste kleine Schritt in die richtige Richtung und wir sind sehr froh, dass die Universitätsleitung unseren Gedanken endlich teilt. Schön wäre es, wenn uns noch mehr Räume zur Verfügung gestellt würden. Über eine bessere Nutzung der Coudraystraße könnte man ja als nächstes nachdenken…

Especially during the summer months learning in glaring sunlight makes little fun. In the carrels of the library, you're usually more interested in drinking an iced coffee than working on mechanics and mathematics. A situation that is not so pleasant and that makes one topic very big and important:

They are often discussed and are much sought after. Other faculties have them, does the Faculty of Civil Engineering have them too? - The answer is more or less yes. According to the "Room Use Plan", Faculty B even has too much room capacity. This is mainly due to the fact that many rooms are difficult for students to use and e.g. the offices of the architects can be visited around the clock.

Therefore it is difficult to create new spaces. The task is rather to use existing spaces, even if the deanery has listened to us about the topic "new workspaces" and shares our opinion. But instead of just hoping, we have to get the best out of the current situation. There are many seminar rooms in the M7 and the computer pools on the third floor. Previously, these rooms could only be used during business hours, but from now on, access to the M7 is guaranteed 24/7 for every student in the Faculty of Civil Engineering, including Sundays and public holidays.

The door of the M7 can now be opened with the Thoska.

For us, this is a first small step in the right direction and we are very glad that the university management finally shares our thoughts. It would be nice if we were provided with more rooms. You could think about a better use of the Coudraystraße next ...
