Bereits im letzten Jahr rückte die Thematik der Prüfungsphase auf die Tagesordnung des Prüfungsausschusses. Neben der Umgestaltung der zweigeteilten Prüfungsphase in den Bachelor Studiengängen stand auch eine Pufferwoche zur Debatte. Diese hatte der FsR B in die Diskussion eingebracht. Die Studierenden wurden durch eine moodle Umfrage in die Entscheidungsfindung einbezogen. Das Ergebnis der Umfrage 2018 kann hier abgerufen werden. Die Studierenden stimmten mehrheitlich für die Beibehaltung des bisherigen Systems und für eine Pufferwoche. Der Prüfungsausschuss diskutierte das Ergebnis. Leider ist die Einführung einer Pufferwoche mit gleichzeitiger Beibehaltung von zwei Prüfungszeiträumen nicht praktikabel. Daher stimmte der Prüfungsausschuss gegen eine Änderung der Modalitäten der bisherigen Prüfungsphase.
Im Frühjahr 2019 wurde erneut ein Antrag auf Prüfungsphasenumgestaltung an den Prüfungsausschuss gestellt. Diesem wurden Zahlen zu Krankmeldungen und bestehen sowie nichtbestehen der Prüfungen beigefügt.* Diese waren nach beiden Prüfungszeiträumen aufgeschlüsselt. Deutlich sichtbar war eine massiv erhöhte Zahl der Krankmeldungen in der Wiederholungsphase im Vergleich zur regulären ersten Prüfungsphase. Auch konnten nur ca. ein Drittel der teilnehmenden Studierenden Prüfungen in der Wiederholungsphase bestehen, während in der regulären Prüfungsphase anteilig weitaus mehr bestanden. Diese Zahlen ziehen sich mit leichten Veränderungen durch jedwede Prüfungen. Aufgrund der neuen Datenlage wurde erneut eine Änderung der Prüfungsphasen diskutiert. Der FsR B wurde dabei von Anfang an informiert und in die Entscheidungsfindung einbezogen. Ein erster Schritt war die Entwicklung einer Umfrage, um die Meinung bezüglich der Umgestaltung möglichst vieler Studierender einzuholen. U.a. auf Anregung des Prüfungsausschusses wurden auch Fragen zur Wahrnehmung und Nutzung der Wiederholungsphase aufgenommen. Die studentischen Mitglieder des Prüfungsausschusses spielten bei der Erarbeitung der Fragen und im allgemeinen Dialog zwischen Prüfungsausschuss und FsR B eine große Rolle. Die Ergebnisse der neuen Umfrage können hier abgerufen werden. Die Mehrheit der Bachelor-Studierender stimmte dabei für die Abschaffung der Wiederholungsphase. Für die Einführung einer Pufferwoche stimmte die Mehrheit aller befragten Studierenden. Der Prüfungsausschuss diskutierte die erlangten Informationen und stimmte im Sinne des Antrages für eine Änderung der Prüfungsphasengestaltung.
Im Detail wurden folgende Änderungen vorgenommen:
- Wiederholungsphase am Ende der Vorlesungsfreien Zeit entfällt
- Angebot jeder Prüfung in jedem Semester
- Prüfungszeitraum beträgt 4 Wochen
- Erste Woche des Prüfungszeitraums ist Pufferwoche (nur fakultätsferne Prüfungen)
- Austragung aus Wiederholungsprüfungen ist möglich (während Ein-/Austragungszeitraum) mit automatischer Wiedereintragung für darauffolgenden Prüfungszeitraum

Already last year, the subject of the examination system moved onto the agenda of the Examination Board. In addition to the reorganization of the two-part examination phase in the Bachelor's programmes, a buffer week was also discussed. The FsR B had introduced this into the discussion. The students were involved in the decision-making process through a moodle poll. The result of the poll in 2018 can be looked at here. The majority of the students voted in favour of maintaining the previous system and for a buffer week. The Examination Board discussed the result. Unfortunately, the introduction of a buffer week with simultaneous retention of two examination periods is not practicable. Therefore, the Examination Board voted against changing the modalities of the previous examination system.
In spring 2019, the Examination Board again received a request for a reorganisation of the examination system. This was accompanied by figures on sickness notifications and pass and fail quotes of examinations.* These were broken down by both examination periods. A massively increased number of sickness notifications in the repetition phase was visible compared to the regular first examination phase. Also, only about one-third of the participating students were able to pass examinations in the repetition phase, while in the regular examination phase students passed far more examinations proportionately. Due to the new data situation, a change in the examination system was again discussed. FsR B was informed from the outset and involved in the decision-making process. A first step was the development of a survey to obtain the opinion of as many students as possible regarding the reorganisation. At the suggestion of the Examination Board, among other things, questions on the perception and use of the repetition phase were also included. The student members of the Examination Board played an important role in the preparation of the questions and in the general dialogue between the Examination Board and the FsR B. The results of the new poll can be found here. The majority of Bachelor students voted in favour of abolishing the repetition phase. The majority of all students surveyed voted in favour of introducing a buffer week. The Examination Board discussed the information obtained and voted in favour of changing the examination phase structure in line with the proposal.
The following changes were made in detail:
- Repeat phase at the end of the semester break not applicable
- The offer of each exam in each semester
- The examination period is 4 weeks
- The first week of examination period is buffer week (only non-faculty examinations)
- De-registration from repeat examinations is possible (during registration/deregistration period) with automatic re-registration for the subsequent examination period
